Internet safety is very important to the college and we believe that the best way to be protected on the internet is to be well informed. As such we have found and created a range of resources to help you be safe on the internet. These can be found by clicking the Safegurading and E-Safety Button.

The CEOP Button is also implemented throughout the VLE.

Save the Date - Safer Internet Day 2012
by Admin User - Wednesday, 1 February 2012, 03:48 PM

Safer Internet Day 2012

Safer Internet Day (SID) is organised by Insafe in February of each year to promote safer and more responsible use of online technology and mobile phones, especially among children and young people across the world. Safer Internet Day 2012 – the ninth edition of the event – will take place on Tuesday 7 February 2012, centred on the theme ‘Connecting generations and educating each other’, where we encourage users young and old to ‘discover the digital world together...safely!’.

In Europe and beyond, thousands of activities will be organised by national Safer Internet Day committees to reflect on the theme, which aims to demonstrate how new technologies can help to connect generations. The campaign will encourage users, both young and old, to join together in creating positive online experiences, to share both knowledge and wisdom, but also to support each other when things might be risky or, indeed, go wrong.

The 30 national centres in the Insafe network (the 27 EU member states, plus Iceland, Norway and Russia) and partners in more than 35 other countries will bring children, young people and adults together in local, regional, national and online events all around the world to reflect on the issue. Join us in celebrating Safer Internet Day by visiting our dedicated website at
www.saferinternetday.org, by registering online or by contacting
your national Safer Internet Day committee.

You will also find a range of resources on the Safer Internet Day website, including a downloadable logo, banner and QR code, the SID video spot and, new for 2012, a SID Kit for Schools, containing lesson plans, resources and news on our SID competitions for children and young people.

Talking News Letter for The Blind- NEED YOUR HELP
by Karen Turner - Thursday, 19 January 2012, 08:49 AM

A Talking Newsletter is recorded fortnightly on a Monday evening at the Blind Shop in Cavendish Street, Barrow. This is sent to Visually Impaired people in our local community. We are desperately looking for volunteers to assist in the recording of this. It is just a matter of reading from a script and takes no longer that 1 1/2 hours. This experience may benefit some students on their c.v.

Anyone who is interested please contact The Blind Shop on 820698.
