BFI Film Academy 2013/14 - Filmaking opportunity 16-19 yr olds!
SIGNAL FILM & MEDIA PRESS RELEASE : BFI Film Academy 2013-14
Signal Film & Media are delighted to announce that they have been selected as a delivery partner for the 2013-14 regional BFI Film Academy network, a national scheme that aims to identify, nurture, celebrate and showcase future filmmaking talent. The partners were announced at a high profile event in London at the House of Commons earlier this month. Progamme Manager, May Davies attended the prestigious event.
Signal Film & Media worked as a partner with FACT on last years Film Academy during which they worked with 9 young people from Cumbria and Lancashire mentoring them through a course of filmmaking and film education workshops. The young people worked with Industry professionals to develop their filmmaking skills, and went on to write, produce, shoot and edit their own short film ‘Noted’ which can be seen on www.signalfilmandmedia.co.uk.
Young people from all the regional partner centres were invited to apply for an intensive residential talent campus, providing a unique filmmaking training experience for the nations most promising talent. Young Cumbrian residents, Ciara Ledward, 17, David Wells, 17 and Kye Kolbe, 16 all successfully gained highly sought after places on the course and spent two weeks at the National Film and Television School, one of the best film schools in the world, working on short film productions that are currently being entered into festivals.
Signal are now looking for 18 of Cumbria and Lancashire’s budding filmmaking talent aged 16-19 to join the BFI Film Academy and to take part in an opportunity to become part of the UK’s future film industry.
